The Harvey Fire Department was established in 1944 as a small group of volunteers providing fire suppression services to the area, coordinated by T.K. Craig. Now, the department has grown to serve an area of approximately 1100 KM2 and 3500 residents. The department consists of a Chief, two Deputy Chiefs, and roughly 55 volunteers. HFD is equipped with regular fire vehicles, as well as specialized off-road vehicles and a boat, allowing access to all areas across the region. Training occurs weekly to ensure that members are properly equipped to combat any situation that might arise. Typical calls include residential fires, motor-vehicle accidents (MVAs), and mutual aid requests.
If you’re interested in joining this elite group of first responders, come attend a training session! These sessions occur every Tuesday, at 7PM, at the Fire Department. For any questions, please contact jerradswanchiefhvfd@gmail.com.
