Laurie Burgoyne

Councillor Ward 4

Laurie brings a deep commitment to community growth and traditional values to the Harvey Rural Community Council. Raised in New Market as the youngest of six children, he graduated from Harvey High School before earning a diploma in Industrial/Retail Security from NBCC Miramichi. His early career included security operations at the Saint John Shipyard during the completion of the Canadian Navy Frigates. Laurie also spent two years studying Anthropology and Psychology at St. Thomas University before transitioning into the business sector.

Laurie left university to launch the first of several businesses. Today, he and his wife of 26 years, Bonny, own and operate Northeast Distributors and Metal Roofing Inc., a manufacturing and distributing company based in Smithfield.

Laurie and Bonny have been proud residents of Smithfield for 28 years, where they are raising their two children. Their son graduated from Harvey High School in 2025, and their daughter is a student at the Fredericton Christian Academy, set to graduate in 2028. Laurie previously spent several years volunteering with the Upper Kingsclear Fire Department.

An avid outdoorsman, Laurie spends his free time hunting and fishing with his children, cultivating his gardens, and boating and wheeling along the Saint John River. He is deeply dedicated to preserving the core values of the Harvey Rural Community while strategically building a vibrant, prosperous future that attracts new families and local businesses.
