Mayor
Richard Corey is a lifelong resident of Harvey Rural Community and has dedicated much of his life to public service and community leadership. He is currently serving as Mayor, having previously served four terms on Harvey Village Council, including as Deputy Mayor.
Richard brings more than 33 years of leadership experience with the Government of New Brunswick, where he held several senior management positions, along with experience as a small business owner. Throughout his career, he has focused on building strong organizations, promoting sound governance, and ensuring responsible financial management. He has also volunteered with numerous local, provincial, and national organizations, reflecting his longstanding commitment to serving others. Richard also represents Harvey Rural Community on the Capital Region Service Commission, collaborating with municipal and regional partners on initiatives and issues that affect communities throughout the Capital Region.
Richard and his wife, Sandra, have been married for more than 57 years. Together they have two adult children and five grandchildren.
As Mayor, Richard is committed to building a strong and united Harvey Rural Community through open, transparent, and accountable local government. He believes in responsible financial stewardship that respects taxpayers while ensuring the municipality can continue to invest in essential services, infrastructure, and community facilities. He is committed to thoughtful planning that supports balanced growth, protects the community’s rural character, and creates opportunities for future generations. He also believes that safe, vibrant, and connected communities are essential to maintaining a high quality of life, and that every resident—regardless of where they live within Harvey Rural Community—deserves equitable representation, opportunity, and municipal services.
Richard believes the future of Harvey Rural Community will be built through collaboration, strong governance, fiscal responsibility, and a shared commitment to preserving the values that make the community a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
