Standing with Our Neighbours in Nackawic-Millville

The announcement that AV Group plans to temporarily idle its Nackawic pulp mill is deeply concerning for Nackawic-Millville and communities throughout our region.

Harvey Rural Community Council extends its support to the employees and families directly affected, as well as the contractors, forestry workers, local businesses and others whose livelihoods are connected to the mill and the broader forestry sector.

Our communities are closely connected. People living in Harvey Rural Community and neighbouring communities work at the mill, support its operations, and participate in the economic activity it generates across the region. The effects of this announcement will reach well beyond Nackawic-Millville.

The Province has indicated that several departments are working together on a response plan to support those affected and to better understand the longer-term impacts on the community, the region and New Brunswick’s forestry sector.

While the greatest impact will be felt in Nackawic-Millville, Harvey Rural Community stands with our neighbours during this period of uncertainty. We will continue to support regional efforts and remain attentive to the impacts on residents, workers and businesses within our own community.

Our communities are neighbours, our economies are connected, and many of our families and businesses share strong ties across municipal boundaries. Harvey Rural Community stands with Nackawic-Millville and all those affected.
