The Grieve Lakeshore Trail opened in July 2023 as a gift to Harvey from the Grieve family. It winds along Harvey Lake for over a kilometer. Plaques with historical information line the level, shaded trail. There are benches and lookouts with scenic views of Harvey Lake and Cherry Mountain.
History
The Grieve Lakeshore Trail is a gift to Harvey Rural Community, generously donated by the Grieve sisters in memory of their parents, Oswald and Velma Grieve.
The trail follows the shoreline of Harvey Lake, first known as bear lake, then big cranberry.
Their gift preserves not only a beautiful stretch of Harvey Lake’s shoreline but also an important piece of the area’s transportation and agricultural history.
The original road followed the edge of the lake. When the present roadway was constructed in 1950, the original road became part of the Grieve family farm, and now the remnants of the old road make up a large portion of the trail.
